Essential Oils – General Information
The everyday power of scent is nothing new; you know that a particular perfume can remind you of someone you know and you know how the smell of some meal can bring you back to your first date with your partner. Nevertheless, the benefits of smells go well beyond the pleasant memories and that’s why I’ll talk about essential oils right now.
Essential oils have benefits on your physical, mental and emotional health; they can be applied directly onto the skin, inhaled or diffused using essential oil accessories. Although essential oils are called oils, they lack fatty acids. Instead, they are highly concentrated natural components, usually originating from plants. While for some essential oil you need only one flower, for others you need a really huge amount of a plant; for that reason, some essential oils are extremely expensive while others costs only peanuts.
Regardless of the type of essential oil, there are some general tips on using them. Experts recommend looking for signs of therapeutic-grade, high-quality oils: steam distilled, medicinal and pure. Most oils shouldn’t be applied directly to human skin, because the high concentration of components can cause an irritation. Rather than that, essential oils should be diluted with a carrier oil, such as almond, grape-seed, apricot kernel and jojoba oils, or water. Ingesting essential oils is usually a bad idea, with a few exceptions.
Modern lifestyle usually doesn’t create optimal conditions for overall well-being. Poor diet, physical inactivity, stress and environmental toxins leave our bodies unbalanced and diminish our energy levels. From weight management and cleansing to supporting every system of the body, diffused essential oils can be targeted solutions you need to feel your best and restore balance. In addition, essential oils can soften the appearance of signs of aging, improve a complexion and nurture your hair, while at the same time making your emotional life more fulfilling and balanced.
