Headache – Identify the Underlying Cause and You can Get Rid of It
Headache is the commonest disorder that we all undergo some time or the other in life. Reasons can be many and duration too may be varying. Some people suffer from a prolonged headache while some others get relief after some time. There are various types of headaches, like sinus headaches, allergy headaches, and many others. Whatever may be the type, every headache has a cause and if you identify it, you can get relief.
Some of you might have experienced that whenever there is a situation which frighten you or make you upset, you experience headache. Remember the times when you had it and you will find that there was some stressful situation around. If there is, you can easily guess that your headache was and is because of stress. Obviously you have to manage stress. Practice Yoga and meditation. Participating in a vigorous sport or dance is also a good way to relieve stress.
Inadequate or Too Much Sleep
Inadequate or too much sleep may cause headache. If you are getting inadequate sleep, check if you have sleep apnea or any breathing abnormality, because of which you may not have a quality sleep. Check if your bedroom is very cold and if it is, make it warm. Also examine your neck position if it is uncomfortable with the pillow. If you are in a habit of sleeping for a long time, avoid it.
Some people may be allergic to certain foods because of which they experience headache. Check if you have such type of headache and which food is causing it. If you keep a keen eye on it, you will soon find it out, and then you can avoid that food, so as to get rid of headache.
Another food-related headache is caused when your stomach is empty, i.e. you haven’t eaten anything for a long time. Sometimes we don’t remember to eat anything when we are engrossed in some work or study, and then our head may start aching. But in such cases, it is seen that the headache immediately relieves when you eat something.
If you have a tendency of constipation, you might suffer from a headache. For curing constipation, you will have to improve your eating habits. You will have to eat plenty of fiber, in form of raw fruits and veggies, whole grains and nuts. Drink plenty of water too. Avoid sticky foods like cheese, yeast, butter and also junk food, and refined and processed foods. If you get rid of constipation, you will get rid of headache.
Glare and Noise
If you are sensitive to high level of glare and noise, and suffer from a headache due to it, avoid them.
High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure may also cause headache. If you know that you are suffering from hypertension, treat it. But if you haven’t yet been diagnosed of it, identify it. If your feet are swollen, you palpitate upon doing some hard work or climbing up stairs or you are easily excited or nervous with a happy or fearful thought or news, you may infer that you are suffering from hypertension. Try to minimize use of salt in food. Approach your doctor to diagnose and treat hypertension.
Take help of your doctor, if you continuously or regularly experience severe painful headache. Once the underlying cause is diagnosed correctly, it will be easy for you to manage the headache.
