Hemorrhoids or piles are real pain in the butt! Anyone, who has them, knows the fact well! And the funny part is, though they are not life-threatening, they have the power to devastate the quality of life of the sufferer. In addition to being painful and itching, the bleeding scenario gives shame and a continuous stress to the sufferer in the social life. Therefore, this nasty condition needs immediate and proper attention and you should treat bleeding hemorrhoids at once.
As there is bleeding during hemorrhoids, it is clear that the veins in the anal part are swollen and burst when are pressurized. The condition may be internal or external. Internal piles are not painful, while external are extremely painful. But bleeding can occur in both the conditions. Why these veins swell depends largely on your lifestyle. If it is too sedentary, if you are taking too less fiber in the diet and so undergoes constipation frequently, and sometimes, even if you are overweight, you can get swollen anal veins and eventually hemorrhoids. A little relieving is the fact that they don’t always bleed. And if they are not worsened, pain and itching is also are very infrequent. But if they are worsened, you need to attend to them more seriously!
In normal conditions, the anal tissue is filled with blood and it is for controlling the bowel movements. If you pressurize this tissue to pass stool, the veins swell, stretch and hemorrhoids are caused.
Constipation is a sure cause of piles, but sometimes diarrhea too causes increased pressure on anal veins. Pregnant women too may get hemorrhoids, typically during the last 6 months of gestation and when they try to push out baby during labor, the blood vessels in the pelvic region are pressurized and the condition worsens.
When the piles are not bleeding, some simple home remedies can give you relief. But if they are bleeding, you need medical attention. If there is no bleeding, internal hemorrhoids may not be even realized, because they are not painful even. When the patient gets blood during stool movements, the internal hemorrhoids are identified.

The primary need for diminishing piles is to increase dietary intake of fibers, because the fibers soften stools, increase its bulk and thus cures constipation, which is the cause of piles in most cases. At least 40 gm of fiber through fruits and vegetables and plenty of water helps to cure constipation. Six to eight 8-ounce glasses of water or any non-alcoholic liquid is recommended by the physicians. Readymade fiber supplements and bulk softeners too are recommended by the physicians, in order to cure constipation.
Another home-remedy which can give symptom-relief to a large extent is sitting in warm water tub for 10 minutes. This you can do for several times in a day. The cream or ointments available over-the-counter for relieving pain and itching should be used only temporarily, as their long-term use may cause skin damage.
If home remedies do not work, medical treatments should be sought. The outpatient treatments for internal hemorrhoids contain rubber band ligation, in which the doctor ties a specialized rubber band at the root of the hemorrhoid. Because of this, blood supply to the hemorrhoid stops to cause its shrinkage. This should be done only by a doctor. Another treatment is sclerotherapy in which a chemical solution is injected by the doctor to cause shrinkage of hemorrhoid. Also the doctor may give infrared coagulation treatment in which heat is used to make the hemorrhoid shrink.
If the external or internal hemorrhoids are large, they do not respond to any other treatment than surgery.
If you want that your hemorrhoid should not be worsened, you should change your diet and overall lifestyle. As said earlier, increase the intake of fiber and water or any non-alcoholic fluid in the diet. Be active to minimize sedentary state. This should cure your piles; but if unfortunately they are worsened, don’t be afraid of getting an operation done and get rid of your pain in the butt forever!
