Stomach pain is one of the commonest disorders that almost everyone suffers from. It is so common, that sometimes we forget that there is something wrong in our body and just let it go. However, chronic stomach pain is not a thing to ignore and you should immediately seek your doctor to relieve it. But when you get it at midnight or some such odd hour when you cannot approach your doctor, is there anything you can do? Yes, there are some simple home remedies that are proven quite effective in relieving stomach pain. I give you some of them here. This is a guide to stomach pain only when you are not in a position to catch with your doctor. You should take the help of your doctor along with these remedies when you can.
Warm Saltwater
By now it was known that warm saltwater is a remedy for sore throat. But now it is being proven to do wonders to an upset stomach too. Take a cup of warm water and mix a teaspoonful of salt in it. As far as possible, finish drinking it fast, for better results. However this is not recommended for people with some other health problems like high blood pressure.
Lemon Water
Lemon is a known remedy for many diseases and stomach upset is just one of them. Squeeze half a lemon in a glass of warm water and drink it to get relief.
Warm Rice Compress
Everyone knows that warmth is a best reliever of stomach pain, particularly cramps. Don’t worry if you don’t have a heating pad. Instead take an old sock and some rice. Sock should better be thick and free of holes. Fill it with raw rice. Don’t pack too tightly, so that the grains can move around with ease. Tie the end and heat in a microwave for a minute. Ensure not to make it too hot before you place it on the abdomen. Flax seeds can also be used, but they take longer to be heated than rice, however stay hot for longer too.

Ginger
Ginger is a wonder herb that helps in many common disorders. It is known to help digestion and so if your stomach pain is due to some digestion-related issue, ginger is a definite remedy. Fresh ginger is the most effective and drinking a cup of ginger tea is not only stomach pain reliever, but it also freshens you up. If this is not possible, you can also eat it as it is; but as it is hot and spicy, you can mix it with jaggery or salt and have it. That tastes awesome!
Baking Soda
If your stomach pain is due to gases, indigestion or some such digestion-related problem, baking soda too is the best remedy. Mix a spoonful or two with a glass of warm water and drink it. Baking soda being a regular household item, you can easily try it for your stomach pain.
Peppermint
Peppermint too works wonders for stomach pain associated with digestion. It is also effective in relieving menstruation-related stomach pain. A few sprigs of peppermint steeped in a glass of warm water or simply chewing them raw can give a big relief.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a natural cleaner and an antiseptic. Moreover it can also help in digestion and better absorption of nutrients, thus working well for stomach upset. Just mix some teaspoons in a glass or warm or cold water. You can also take it regularly before meals to be helpful in digestion. Ensure that you buy apple cider vinegar and not any other vinegar.
