This oil, which is also called black seed oil or black cumin seed oil, can be used to treat health conditions in various ways. Here are some of them.
Eating Black Seed Oil
With Meals
Eating black seed oil regularly can save you from various ailments. It’s recommended to eat a teaspoon of black seed oil three times a day. This can be done by swallowing this oil with each meal. Mix the oil in anything you’d eat or drink at the meal, rather than eating it plain, because it has an intense bitter taste which you may not be able to tolerate.
With Honey or Lemon Juice
Another recommended way is to mix black seed oil with equal quantity of honey to mask the bitter taste. You can even replace honey with lemon juice.
Drizzle over Vegetables
Black seed oil can be used as a substitute for olive oil and can be used as a dressing over vegetable salads. Drizzle plain black seed oil over veggies or mix it with lemon juice or honey and then drizzle.
Using it Topically
For Hair Health
Take a tablespoon of black cumin seed oil in a bowl with equal amount of olive oil or coconut oil. Mix well and apply all through your hair. However, remember that if you want more quantity of oil, take more amount of olive or coconut oil and not more of black seed oil. Coat each strand of hair with this mixture. This will act like a great moisturizer for your hair.
Using for Various Other Health Conditions
Dilute Black Seed Oil
Most of the times, benefits of black seed oil can be enjoyed as it is. However, in some people direct application of black seed oil can be allergic and irritate skin. Therefore it’s recommended to dilute the oil with water. Add 10 drops of black seed oil to 8 ounces (230gm) of water and then use it.
For Bug Bites and Other Irritations
Deep a cotton ball in diluted black seed oil and gently dab it on the irritated area. Hold the cotton ball on the spot for 5 minutes.
Avoid Side Effects
- Use not more than 3 teaspoons of black seed oil per day.
- Avoid using black seed oil during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Be careful while using in diabetes.
