If you are like me, you’ll agree that the biggest hurdle in our weight loss mission is craving. Whatever we do for weight loss, we just have to fight constantly to stop ourselves from eating our favorite foods, mostly unhealthy which add to our fat layers. Have you ever craved carrots, cucumber or a leafy green? But you always crave potato chips, chocolates and cakes; and once you fall prey to the cravings and eat these things, not only do they add to your pounds, but they also make your conscious weighty by filling you with the guilt, that you destroyed your dieting efforts. All in all, killing your cravings is an important part of your weight loss program. Here are a few tips that may help!
1. Try a Blue Plate
This may sound weird, but as per research, blue is a natural hunger suppressant because the color almost never occurs in natural foods. So, our brains have no natural appetite stimulation with this color. On the contrary, orange, red and yellow have been proven to increase your hunger and tempt you to eat more.
2. Try Vinegar
Organic red wine or apple cider vinegar improves your digestion by letting food stay in your stomach for longer and also reduces the secretion of hunger hormone ghrelin. Thus you feel full for longer. It also helps prevent blood sugar spikes after meals and thus helps kill cravings for 3 hours later.
3. Acupressure Points to Kill Cravings
If you believe in acupressure (and you should, because it really works), there are points on your nose and earlobes which if you pinch, you can control your craving and win your weight loss battle. You just have to press these points (your nose and earlobes) for 4-5 seconds and release for 3-4 seconds. Repeat for around 10-12 times per day. This will take merely a minute or two. You’ve nothing to lose; so, why not try?
4. Increase Magnesium Intake
If you have a lot of craving for chocolates, it may be a sign of magnesium deficiency. So, instead of eating chocolates and adding to your pounds, eat leafy greens that are full of magnesium. They will not only curb your chocolate cravings but also will fight off your stress.
5. Keep Your Stomach Full with Healthy Foods
Last but not the least, you should keep your stomach full to eliminate cravings. When your stomach is sufficiently filled, you will hardly crave. Eat a lot of fresh vegetables, fruits, sprouts, nuts, cheese, milk and other protein-rich foods like fish, meat and poultry, so that you won’t feel like eating unhealthy foods.
Conquer your cravings and head out on your weight loss mission without any stress!
