A new study says that, obese patients with chronic kidney disease who go through surgery to achieve the goal of weight loss do not experience serious complications because of that.

Though the team of researchers warned that more work has to be done to organize to what extent the advantages of the surgery for weight loss known as bariatric surgery, actually override the dangers among these people, the investigators discovered that five to ten percent of such patients faced complications.

The positive part of such interference could be overwhelming, the researched pointed, since obesity or overweight can be hindrance to the ability of a patient to go through a lifesaving kidney transplant.

According to a news release from the American Society of Nephrology, “This job offers powerful evidence that it is completely safe to move on with bariatric surgery in kidney disease patients who face complications from obesity.

The discoveries, listed for publication in a forthcoming issue of American Society of Nephrology’s journal, stem from an observation of over 27000 patients who had undergone bariatric surgery at some time between 2006 and 2008.

Problems among kidney disease patients differed according to the extent and level of their illness. Around five percent of patients with either usual kidney function or early stage faced problems, while about ten percent of people with more developed stage went on to face complications after operation, the researchers discovered.

The authors recommended that problem rates below ten percent should be observed as good news, provided with the difficulty many patients with chronic kidney disease have in losing weight as their capacity to involve in workout goes away.
